IPL delivers pulses of broad-spectrum, non-coherent light (not a laser) to target flat, unwanted pigment and redness anywhere on the body. This technology was initially FDA-approved in the 1990s for hair removal and modification, but it is now the “go-to” platform for superficial pigment and vascular issues. The wavelengths generated by the M22 IPL are absorbed by specific targets on and in the skin. Cut-off filters and proprietary programming allow us to precisely target issues while leaving normal skin intact for patients of almost all skin colors. It is important to work with an experienced technician who can optimize settings for each patient’s needs to maximize results and minimize the risk of burns, blisters, and pigmentary issues.

The Lumenis M22 IPL treats sun damage, brown spots, redness/rosacea, spider veins, uneven skin tone, and Dry Eye Syndrome with no downtime or surgery. IPL stimulates collagen production, promotes skin brightness and even pigmentation, and can be combined with other technologies and biostimulators to optimize your results.

What To Expect

Patients often describe the pulses as a quick snap with a warm sensation. Skin may look slightly pink for a few hours. Dark spots may temporarily get darker before lifting and flaking off over the next few days. Spider veins and red spots darken and shrink with each treatment. Avoid sun exposure two weeks before and after treatment. The best results come from a series of 3-6 treatments, depending on the patient’s goals.

M22 IPL is a proven non-surgical way to help patients achieve brighter, more even skin tone and help reduce sun damage and redness while making the skin appear more youthful and clearer. Visit us at Aesthetic Revolution Las Vegas to learn more about advanced M22 Intense Pulse Light treatments.

Pre-Procedure Guidelines

To prepare for IPL treatments, patients should:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for two weeks before and after treatment
  • Follow all pre-treatment instructions provided during consultation
  • Maintain good skin health leading up to the procedure
  • Do not apply any makeup or sunblock to the treatment area on the day of your procedure
  • Digital photos, consent, and cleansing of the injection areas will be performed
  • This is NOT a laser technology, but INTENSE Pulsed Light treatments require eye protection for both the patient and technician
  • Treatments take 15 to 30 minutes

What To Expect And After Care

There is minimal social downtime from M22 IPL treatments. The treated areas may feel lightly sunburned and be pink for a few days. Pigment targets may darken and shrink and then be resorbed by your body or flake off.

Patients should:

  • Keep exposed skin clean and well-moisturized per instructions
  • Avoid sun exposure and use sun protection
  • Do not rub or massage treated areas if they are sensitive
  • Follow all post-procedure care instructions carefully.
  • If you are using Redvive Red/NIR light therapy, you can restart immediately

Recovery Timeline

  • Return to normal activity and gym: the next day
  • Avoid sun and heated environments for several weeks
  • Back in tinted SPF or makeup immediately
  • Results are optimized with each additional treatment performed 1 to 2 months apart for 3 to 6 treatments

Results

M22 IPL is a proven non-surgical way to help patients achieve a brighter, more even skin tone, reduce sun damage and redness, and make the skin appear more youthful, elastic, and clearer. It is also a great tool for treating Dry Eye Syndrome with no downtime. Results develop gradually over several weeks, with full results achieved within several months. Many patients see improvement after just one session, but some concerns require a series of 3 to 6 treatments over time and then maintenance for continued results.
