Pre-Procedure Guidelines
To prepare for RHA® injection, patients should:
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning prior to treatment
- Discontinue blood thinners 3 to 10 days prior to injections
- Follow all pre-treatment instructions provided during consultation
- Maintain good skin health leading up to the procedure
- Do not apply any makeup or sunblock to the treatment area on the day of your procedure
- Digital photos, consent, and cleansing of the injection areas will be performed
- Ultrasound examination to demonstrate blood vessels and areas of pre-existing fillers may be performed by Dr. Z.
What To Expect And After Care
Recovery from RHA® injections varies depending on the treatments performed.
After this non-surgical treatment:
- Volume improvement is visible immediately
- Avoid strenuous activity, alcohol, and heat for 24–48 hours
- Mild swelling, redness, or bruising is common and typically resolves within a few days.
- Bruising may not appear at the surface until several days after injection, but it is generally resolved by two weeks
- Treated areas may feel tight or sensitive
- If you have excessive pain, deep redness, or tiny pustules develop in an injection area, please contact the office promptly
Patients should:
- Keep the skin clean and well-moisturized per instructions
- Avoid sun exposure and use sun protection
- Sleep with your head elevated the first night if you have face injections
- Follow any massage instructions if provided to enhance symmetry and avoid collections of filler and nodules that can rarely occur during the first several weeks
- Follow all post-procedure care instructions carefully.
