Laser hair removal, or long-term laser hair modification, has become one of the most popular elective aesthetic services in America. It’s a comfortable, effective way to achieve long-term hair removal on the face and body for men and women of all skin types.

The wavelength, skin cooling, and in-motion variable pulse-width delivery of this state-of-the-art laser system’s energy are absorbed by the stem cells in the base and bulge of the treated hair follicles. This shuts down the follicle’s ability to repair and regenerate over a series of comfortable sessions, timed to the hair growth cycle in each area, to achieve the best results with the fewest visits.

Thicker, rapidly growing, darker hairs on lighter skin tones respond best and require fewer treatment visits than lighter, thinner hairs on darker skin tones, because the pigment in the skin competes for the laser energy. In those cases, parameters must be reduced to protect the skin, and more visits are required to safely treat the thinner, more lightly pigmented hairs because they are less optimal targets. Hairs in their dormant phase are not damaged by laser energy and are best treated when back in active growth. Different parts of the body have varying hair growth rates and durations, so treatments are scheduled accordingly.

The advanced laser technology we use at Aesthetic Revolution Las Vegas primarily targets the pigment at the base of the actively growing hair follicle, preserving the skin and other tissues in the treated area.

The Nevada-licensed Advanced Estheticians at Aesthetic Revolution Las Vegas, overseen by Dr. Zimmerman as Medical Director and Laser Safety Officer, perform safe and effective laser hair removal for both women and men in commonly desired areas, including the back, legs, arms, face, chest, and bikini area. Dr. Z is consulted before treating hairy, pigmented lesions.

Say goodbye to annoying hair and hello to smooth, clear skin.

Ideal Candidates For Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a safe treatment that helps many people. At your initial consultation, we will discuss your concerns, needs, and goals to determine whether this treatment is appropriate for you. Ideal candidates for laser hair removal:

  • Want to reduce hair on their face or body
  • Want to stop using other techniques for hair removal (waxing, shaving, bleaching, depilatory creams)
  • Have lighter skin and thicker, darker hair in the treatment areas
  • Are in good, overall physical health
  • Are not taking any photo-sensitizing medications or supplements
  • Are willing to stay out of the sun for two weeks before and after each treatment

How the Procedure Is Performed

Shave or trim the treatment area several days before your appointment to minimize interaction with the laser energy and hair above the skin’s surface. This reduces the sensation of heat and allows more laser energy to focus on the base of the hair follicle, where the germinative cells are located. On the day of your procedure, do not apply anything to the treatment area. You will relax in a private treatment room, draped for modesty, while the areas of your face and body being treated are cleansed to remove any residual oil, dirt, lotions, and sunblock. A clear, cool, sliding gel is applied to the treatment area. Laser parameters are selected to meet your specific needs. The laser’s energy will focus on and damage the stem cells in the base and bulge of actively growing follicles, progressively preventing hairs from growing back as dark and as thick as before with each treatment, as more hairs are treated during active growth. The laser energy is described as a scratchy, mild stinging sensation but is far more comfortable than waxing, tweezing, and RF epilation.

Typically, you will need 3–5 treatments spaced 3–6 weeks apart to achieve optimal results. Your sessions are staggered to give the affected areas time to heal. This also allows time for follicles in the dormant phase to enter their active growth phase, during which the laser is most effective in treating them.

What To Expect After Laser Hair Removal

Although this procedure is gentler than prior technologies, the treated areas of your skin may feel and look mildly sunburned. After your treatment, you can resume all normal activities but avoid strenuous activity and prolonged exposure to heat or sun for several days to allow the treated skin to recover. At home, after your treatment, we suggest using soothing creams and lotions, along with cool packs, to minimize mild discomfort and heat.

Not all the hair stem cells in an area will be permanently disabled. Some hair growth may return over time, and occasional maintenance treatments will help you stay smooth.

Consultation

Accurate assessment is essential to developing a successful treatment plan. During your consultation, Dr. Z or ARLV Staff will review your medical history and discuss your current issues and goals to determine whether a customized series of treatments with our Motus AX may help you maintain smoother, significantly less-hairy skin over the long term. They will review costs, treatment times, and frequency, and may even try a test patch to be sure the technology is right for you. Dare to be bare and have less hair!
