Is it right for me?
With age and after childbirth, women start noticing symptoms related to their vaginal health that affect their lifestyles on different levels. Vaginal atrophy or dryness is a common symptom in postmenopausal women. Stress urinary incontinence is another symptom, as well as vaginal laxity after childbirth, which can impact satisfaction with sexual intercourse. Nearly 50% of postmenopausal women suffer from stress urinary incontinence and 80 suffer from vaginal atrophy.
Lumenis ® CO 2 laser procedures are not suitable for everyone, for example patients who have taken Accutane ® (Isotretinoin) within the past 6-12 months, or have a history of keloid formation. Risks may include change of pigmentation, infection, redness, textural changes or scarring. How does it work?
FemTouch™ technology FemTouch™ is an innovative CO 2 laser technology, enabling to apply precise and controlled laser microbeams on the vaginal lining. This allows stimulation of new tissue growth, by triggering collagen production.
The treatment
Before treatment, your physician should assess your vaginal health to ensure you are a good candidate for the treatment. During the treatment, your physician will move the sterilized applicator along the vaginal wall in an outward motion, applying the laser in a 360 º pattern covering the entire area. The whole procedure should take just a few minutes. You may experience a minor heat sensation during the treatment but it is very gentle and you should not feel uncomfortable.
What should I expect?
When will I see results? Typically 2-4 treatments are needed to achieve the desired outcome on the vaginal lining. In clinical evaluations women reported feeling improvement already after 1-2 treatments.
What can I expect after treatment?
Immediately after treatment you may feel a very mild heat sensation in which case your treatment provider can prescribe a hydrating gel. This sensation usually should not last longer than a few hours.
