P-Shot Procedure
The P-Shot will take place in one of our private treatment rooms. First, a topical numbing cream is applied to the planned injection sites so it can begin to work while your PRP is prepared.
60 cc of blood will be taken from your arm and then double-spun in a clinical centrifuge to isolate the platelets, growth, and healing factors. Once centrifugation (and sometimes platelet count) is complete, the PRP is transferred sterilely to syringes and brought back to your room.
The PRP is activated for maximal effect just before injection. A sterile field is prepared, a tourniquet may be applied, and ice may be used to provide additional anesthesia before injections (with fine-gauge needles) into the corpora (erectile chambers of your penis). Some patients report slight pressure when the needle is inserted.
To enhance your results, Dr. Z may discuss combining the P-Shot with Acoustic Shockwave Therapy, a Neuromodulator injection (Pickletox), home vacuum pump use, Emsella treatments, Red and Near Infrared Light treatments, and Stem Cells.
What To Expect After Your P-Shot
After the P-Shot, you can leave and resume normal activities. Don’t do a heavy workout or resume vacuum pumping until the next day to minimize bruising. While some men with better hormone levels may notice an immediate improvement, others may not notice a change for several weeks or until additional P-Shots have been performed. P-Shots may not eliminate your use of Viagra/Cialis/Levitra, but you will likely require less of it.
Because the P-Shot uses your own blood plasma and growth factors, there is no risk of an allergic reaction. You should schedule a 6-week follow-up appointment or phone call with Dr. Z to discuss the results of your first P-Shot so he can continue or adjust your treatment plan as needed to meet your goals. It is common to consider a series of injections over time to further enhance and maintain your results. Individual P-Shot results may last several months or even up to a year.
