Definition
Drooping upper eyelids, also known as ptosis, occur when the fold of skin on the upper eyelid creases down lower than its usual position, partially obscuring the iris (colored part of the eye).
Appearance
Drooping eyelids can make you look tired, sad, or even angry, even when you’re feeling well-rested. This can be due to the shadow cast by the excess skin.
Treatment
Eyelid lift surgery, also called blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that addresses drooping upper eyelids. During the surgery, a surgeon removes excess skin and sometimes underlying fat tissue from the upper eyelid. This creates a more open and youthful appearance.
