About cellulite reduction

Regardless of how healthy and thin you are, unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done to stop or improve the appearance of cellulite without assistance. Cellulite is present in women who have networks of fibrous bands that pull the skin tighter against, usually around the buttocks, thighs, and hips, that create a bumpy, dimpled look. Dr. Edward M. Zimmerman, a cosmetic surgeon at Aesthetic Revolution Las Vegas in Nevada, is pleased to offer nonsurgical cellulite reduction with QWO-a recently approved injectable collagense (enzyme) that helps dissolve and release the tethers that cause the dimples, over a series of three comfortable treatments, about 3 weeks each apart.  The results of this treatment in carefully selected patients has been amazing.

Further nonsurgical cellulite reduction treatment can be provided with the Lumens NuEra tight. NuEra is an FDA-cleared temperature-controlled RF skin smoothing system that temporarily improves the appearance of cellulite, small areas of bulging fat, and laxity for men and women. By pinpointing the fibrous tissue commonly found in the legs and buttocks with a minimally invasive treatment, NuEra frees the bound tissue and helps progressively smooth the area.

Acoustic Shockwave Therapy is another non-surgical, painless, technology that is used to help break up fibrotic and tethered tissue to help it lay more evenly.

In the past, cellulite was basically impossible to address, but today, you can receive tangible, excellent results from nonsurgical cellulite reduction treatment at Aesthetic Revolution Las Vegas.

Ideal Candidates For cellulite reduction

Nonsurgical cellulite reduction is safe and effective for most men and women who wish to reduce the appearance of cellulite for smoother-looking skin. However, you might not be a candidate if you have loose skin, diabetes, varicose veins, or an infection. Pregnant women and individuals taking blood thinners should not undergo cellulite treatments. Those most likely to benefit from this procedure:

  • Are at a healthy stable weight
  • Have reasonable skin elasticity
  • Have cellulite on their buttocks, hips, or thighs

cellulite reduction Procedures Technique

Qwo is an FDA-approved collagenase that is injected into specific cellulite dimples on the buttocks.  It is also used off-label for the thighs.  It is repeated about every 3 weeks and the best results can take several months to appreciate.   Digital photos, weight and body measurements are performed.  Then tiny comfortable injections make this an easy in-office procedure.  Over 80% of patients bruise initially from these injections, so schedule appropriately.  This technology can be bundled with other technologies to improve outcomes.

The Lumenis NuEra, a monopolar RadioFrequency device, uses the resistance of tissue that causes heat, to comfortably smooth and tighten tissue over a course of treatments.  Maintenance is required.  After your evaluation, digital photos, and weight measurement,  Dr. Z's staff will apply the appropriate NuEra electrode to the skin's surface and set it to the designated temperature. The handpiece will be gently glided along the target area in a slow circular motion. Thanks to built-in feedback, the radiofrequency output will automatically adjust throughout the session for accurate heating and comfort. The treatment itself is feels like a warm stone massage.  Each treatment takes 10 – 15 minutes for facial areas and about 20 – 25 minutes for body areas. Results will reveal smoother, softer-looking skin with each treatment.

Acoustic Shock Wave Therapy  (ASWT) is another device that can be employed to blend tissue elevations and depressions.  This gentle tissue "jackhammer" uses radial pressure waves to break up tethers and fibrosis and cause fat cells that were partially treated by SculpSure and Emsculpt to rupture and be recycled by the body.  The treatments take 10-20 minutes per area and are a bit noisy, but aren't uncomfortable.  There can be some bruising, but no real downtime.

What to Expect In cellulite reduction

About 80% of patients have temporary bruising for several weeks after each Qwo injection treatment.  There is surprisingly little discomfort associated with this but the appearance may cause "social" downtime for some patients.

With NuEra Tight and Acoustic Shockwave Therapy, there is no downtime or recovery period as they are noninvasive. After these procedures, you should expect mild redness and perhaps slight swelling,, but this is temporary. Following the treatment, you may notice results in days with continued improvement in the weeks that follow. Women and men who keep their weight stable will see their results last the longest.  NuEra and ASWT cellulite treatments can be performed as many times as you need to get and keep your desired result.

cellulite reduction Frequently Asked Questions

How much does cellulite treatment cost?
The cost of your treatment will be dependent on your unique treatment plan, the size of the target area, and the number of locations being treated. During your private consultation, Dr. Z can go over the estimated cost of your treatment. We accept many forms of payment and can help you find medical financing.

What is cellulite?
Cellulite is the lumpy, dimpled flesh that usually appears on the thighs, hips, butt, and sometimes abdomen. While cellulite is more common in women, it can also be found in men. The cause of cellulite is still unclear, but many doctors think it is fat swollen with toxins and shortened or thickened connective fibers that create ripples and dimples on the surface of the skin.  There may be genetics at work.  Laxity, thin skin, and aging contribute to the pathology. Cellulite can be found on both thin and overweight bodies, and while it is not considered a serious medical condition, it is considered undesirable and unattractive.

How long are cellulite treatments?
Qwo injections are performed with the same size needle as filler and toxin injections, so relatively painless.  There can be some stinging for moments to a day after and about 80% of patients get at least some bruising, so you should keep those areas out of the sun so the bruise doesn't make a biological "tattoo".

Most energy treatments take only 30 – 60 minutes, and there is no recovery time required. This means you can easily schedule appointments over your lunch break. You will typically need 4 – 6 sessions of NuEra or ASWT, spaced at least one week apart, per treatment area in order to see optimal results. Many patients compare the feeling of these non-surgical cellulite treatments to a relaxing massage.

Will I have continuous improvements after cellulite treatments?
Probably the most noteworthy benefit regarding nonsurgical cellulite reduction is that over time, you will continue to see results. This is due to the more orderly collagen growth that takes place under the skin.
